Open source is the name of practices which is used as a tool for promotion or development of access to end product’s sources items. Some persons think a philosophy while many other consider it a pragmatic methodology. In past developers and programmers used to call this method various in their own terms. Actually it was not recognized widely then. With the growth of internet, open source appeared as a powerful concept. People started to feel the great necessity of computing source codes on a large scale. Its opening enabled the attendant to a self-growing diversity of modes of production, communication paths, and interactive online communities. At last a three word phrase was introduces for naming it an "Open Source Software". It described the whole parts concerned with it. It managed the environment for new copyright, domain, licensing and consumer related matters. The application of open sources code was a boon in knowledge sharing fields.

The open source model keeps the ideal concept of occurring or operating at the same time yet different agendas and its approaches differs in production, in contrast with more centralized models of development such as those typically used in commercial software companies. The key factor of practicing open source software is development of peer production by assisting, bartering and collaboration, with the end-product, source-material, "blueprints" and documentation available free for public who need it. The method was opted in other different fields also, such as in science and technology.

History of Open Source

The concept free sharing of knowledge is not new. Before the invention of computer and advent of modern technologies, people used to share information many ways. Earlier the needs of men were very limited. Thy only wanted their livelihood. Business and agriculture were the main source of income. They managed information and forward it to generation by generation. Many things related to entertainment have reached to us only by knowledge sharing. These days we have termed Open Source in computer fields, ad coded information. Now open source is understood as a material of computer, software and technology. The new association instituted a cross-licensing agreement among all US automobile manufacturers. Although each company would develop technology and file patents, these patents were shared openly and without the exchange of money between all related businessmen. Open source on the internet took inception when the internet was just a message board and was in progressive stage. The website became good presentation of sharing method. There are now many websites, organizations, and businesses who promote open source sharing of everything from computer code to mechanics of improving a product, technique, scientific researches and medical equipment advancement. Some people then decided to make a label as Open Source and it became strategy. The conference was held at Palo Alto, in California. It was a recreation after Netscape's January 1998 announcement of a source code release for Navigator.

Many other fields of study and cultural view were also affected by the concept of open source. Its scope is not within the premises of software and technology now.
